How did the idea for Arturo come about? After we worked together in a style office, we found ourselves with a desire to create something that fully represented us, to be run according to our principles and values. We first met and came up with the idea of socks, which lend themselves perfectly as a palette for what is our shared love of illustration and graphic design.
You guarantee that your socks will last as long as possible…. How important is the concept of sustainability to you? Manufacturing responsibly is crucial. In addition to guaranteeing transparency and traceability of the supply chain (In our case we talk about Made in Italy) and the use of sustainable materials (our socks are made of certified cotton), for us the concept of sustainability revolves a lot around consumerism: too often people choose disposable fashion (let alone socks!), we promote instead a conscious attitude to purchase, proposing quality items that will last over time and accompanying the customer even in the phase of use and reuse of the product. With each pair of socks purchased on our website arturostories.it , in fact, we ship a spool of thread in the color of the toe, for eventual mending.
The originality of the patterns/patterns in Arturo is evident: how do you go about your research? Thank you!!! This is our real passion. Inspirations are the most disparate: art, design, nature. Creating patterns and palettes is our favorite game: we choose a starting color palette, make hundreds of illustrations, and then select the ones that , together, manage to form a coherent collection, with the right balance of colored socks, striped socks, patterned socks…
Goals for the future: how would you like to evolve your business? We would like to look abroad, to promote Made in Italy. And we are planning to launch a new product category, accompanying the socks…
Last question: imagining a collab with Brillo … which illustrator would you choose and why?
We have already collaborated in the past with Gio Pastori on the creation of a beautiful sock, and recently with Mattia Riami on an illustration for Father’s Day. We’d like to think about a collaboration focused on Christmas gifts…but choosing just one illustrator is impossible!
